NORDIC WALKING CLASSES

Taster sessions and private or group technique lessons are available for all levels of fitness. You will learn about Nordic Walking as a health and fitness activity, perform mobilisation and warm-up exercises, be given demonstrations of the technique and, of course, have plenty of practice and finish the lessons with some cool down exercises.

TASTER SESSION

Come along and try it!

Find out more about the technique, the benefits of using the poles and simply see if you like it. Taster sessions last 45 minutes and are available for up to a maximum of 12 people.

PRIVATE TECHNIQUE LESSONS

A private technique lesson can be just for yourself or with a small group of family/friends. The level is set according to your fitness level and will allow plenty of individual attention. Three to four sessions will usually give you sufficient knowledge and technique to practise the activity with confidence by yourself.

You can continue with private lessons if you would like further fitness coaching.

CLASS LEVELS:

  • LEVEL 1

Basic technique/introductory level - aimed at improving all-round health. It focuses on using the natural arm swing and planting of the poles to activate the largest muscles of the upper body (back, chest, abdominals, shoulders and arms).

  • LEVEL 2

The progressive technique - aimed at increasing stride length and a faster walking pace.  This improves all-round fitness through greater aerobic activity.

  • LEVEL 3

A highly effective method of cross-training with poles for any sportsman/woman or avid exercise enthusiast.

GROUP TECHNIQUE COURSE

A Nordic Walking group course (for up to 12 participants) is aimed at taking participants from the introductory level (Level 1) through to the progressive technique (Level 2). By the end of the course you will have the knowledge and confidence to continue Nordic Walking by yourself.

A group technique course lasts 4 hours (this can be on one day or split over 2, 3 or 4 separate days).

NB A minimum number of 4 participants is required to run the group technique courses.
