PILATES: Classes

Pilates is suitable for all ages and all levels of fitness. Whether you are looking for a challenge, rehabilitation, ante/post-natal exercise or specific training for sport, Pilates can help you:

• feel energised and confident about your body

GROUP MATWORK CLASSES

Group matwork classes (for a maximum of 12) are ideal for those who do not have any serious injuries and who particularly enjoy social interaction as they learn.

Mat classes last one hour and are scheduled at the same time each week.

They are grouped according to ability to ensure that you get the safest and most effective workout for your body.

 

PRIVATE SESSIONS

ONE TO ONE: Private Pilates tuition is the best option for those who want a highly personalised Pilates session. Sessions are arranged according to your own schedule and each session is all about your body, your expectations and your goals, often using studio equipment (see studio sessions).

DUO & TRIOS: Duet & trio sessions offer clients the flexibility to choose when and with whom they wish to exercise. Clients still receive the benefits of a bespoke private session but at a reduced price per person. With smaller groups it is also easier to teach using more of the small studio equipment available. If the class is purely matwork I can increase the size so that four or five friends or family can form a small private group.

STUDIO SESSIONS

The Pilates studio equipment (Reformer, Cadillac, Ladder Barrel, Chair and Pilates Arc) are incredibly powerful in terms of changing the way you feel and look by offering the body both resistance and support.

Using Pilates equipment requires the utmost focus but gives you an excellent workout.

Sessions can be taught using the studio equipment exclusively or alongside Pilates matwork exercises.

ANTE & POST NATAL

There are many benefits to be gained from practising Pilates during and after pregnancy.

The exercises help maintain and improve the condition of the abdominal, pelvic floor and back muscles, as well as help strengthen the upper body in order to cope with the demands of infant care and breast feeding.

Focusing on posture, breathing, relaxation, coordination and balance all contribute to an increased feeling of well-being. It also allows precious time for the mother to focus on herself - perhaps the most important benefit of all.

PRE & POST OP

Whether the result of an injury, an operation, diagnosis of a medical condition, or even if you are experiencing unexplained aches and pains, private sessions are the perfect choice for you.

During your first session I will look at your medical history and where necessary (and with your consent) I can liaise with your medical general practitioner, medical consultant, osteopath, chiropractor or other health care practitioner.

I will also take into account your activities or every day living that might be causing stresses and strains on your body.
